Chefs

There is a good reason why chefs are our favorite customers. Nancy has this problem; she loves to grow new and different varieties. At first, it drove Burt and the crew crazy--we wondered who was going to want a green-striped tomato or purple cauliflower or okra.

     After two years, though, we wanted to grow more of these different crops, too. We now know that those of you who are on the "cutting edge" are constantly updating your menus - striving to prepare interesting and flavorful food. Yes, we do grow white cauliflower and round, red tomatoes (they may look the same but they taste better than most that you'll find on the market.) However, in addition to those, we also try to grow what you need to make your menu unique. 

Here is what we can offer to restaurants:

  • An assortment of fresh herbs- Thai and purple basils, lemon grass, specialty mints, as well as the commonly used ones such as basil, thyme, rosemary, and chives.
  • If there is interest we will add later Micro mix greens- These are tiny greens (barely bigger than sprouts) that add unique appearance and flavor to your best dishes.  (Let us know the varieties you would be interested in.)
  • Salad mix- Picked daily, ours is a colorful and flavorful mix of Romaines and Leaf Lettuces.  We also grow Arugula and Spinach. 
  • Vegetables and edible flowers- that you'd like to use, along with quality and freshness you desire. Call us for seasonal availability of those you use. We offer wonderful variety of distinctive seasonal vegetables and herbs that are sure to please. 
  • Our What's Growing Calendar gives you information about what we grow and when we grow it. Then let us know what else you would like--if we can grow it here, we will make every effort to add it to our line. Vegetable crops which produce a fruit, like tomatoes, peppers, and melons, usually take 90-120 days. Those grown for their leaves can usually be added in 30-50 days.
  • Freshness- most of the vegetables we deliver have been picked within 24 hours.
  • Personal and fast service- We are a small business, so we have the flexibility to accommodate you when you have banquets or other changes in your regular schedule.
  • We can deliver- to restaurants in the Champaign and surrounding area. So, give us a call and let us help you bring the best to your customers.
